PRO MPA II
2-Channel Tube Preamp
The Pro MPA II is a two-channel preamp with streamlined controls and real tube tone in a 2U rackmount enclosure.
It has 40 dB of input gain and a 20 dB boost, so it’s a great choice for low-output microphones. The plate voltage is switchable between normal operation for classic tube saturation, and high voltage for increased headroom and bandwidth. Variable impedance lets you tailor the response of the preamp to your microphone for additional tonal flexibility. It also features a variable low cut filter to eliminate rumble and tighten bass, and switches for phantom power phase reversal, and stereo or dual mono operation.
Unique among ART preamps, the Pro MPA II has a Mid/Side matrix for additional flexibility when recording stereo sources. For more information about this technique, check out this great overview from Sound On Sound.
A VU meter shows the output level, while a Tube Warmth LED meter shows the signal levels before they're affected by the Output volume control.
The rear panel has XLR mic inputs and both XLR and 1/4” line outputs per channel, and the front panel has 1/4” instrument inputs for using the Pro MPA II as a dual tube DI.
Extend your recording setup with a versatile character preamp that offers two channels of classic tube warmth.
